Ages 7 through 12 - or first grade and up.
Camp runs Monday through Thursday - Dec 28th through Dec. 31st - 9:30am to 3:30pm $170.00 pre-paid.
Our program is focused on teaching historical arts connected to the martial culture of Europe in the time of the crusades and beyond to the 16th century. We teach history and real world skills related to the time and culture of Knighthood.
This winter course we will focus on the War Of The Roses and King Richard III who's grave site was recently excavated underneath a parking lot in Europe. Archaeological work since has revealed a great deal about him. He was recently re entombed to great fanfare.
Learn the skills of Sword and Shield from documented historical texts
Learn about European History and culture
Play Medieval games
Learn about heraldry and make your own shield with your own coat of arms
Learn metalworking skills and make your own project.
Students will learn about the Seven Knightly Virtues - Prowess, Humility, Courage, Generosity, Mercy, Temperence
Children will train with lightweight sword simulators and safety gear. They will have the opportunity to handle steel replicas of the real thing and interact with real armor. All under the supervision of our instructors.
Class size is limited to 14 students.
BEFORE AND AFTER CARE:
Before care starts at 8:00 after care ends at 5:45
Kids in before and after care are welcome to work on activities provided during the camp, play medieval and renaissance board games, play pirate munchkin, use our library or bring their own activities from home. This will be largely self-directed time with adult supervision.
